§Services
Patent services that share one data trail, from first search to final deal
Seven service families, 18 services, and one analyst-operated workspace. Start wherever your question is. Each step builds on the record the last one created, so nothing is redone.

§ 01Context
One record, many questions
Our patent services are built to follow one another. A Prior-Art Snapshot becomes the starting point for a Patentability Search. A landscape becomes the first list for Licensee Identification. A due-diligence pack reuses the status records kept in Hoard Ledger. Seven chambers, one shell: each service grows from the one before it, and the data trail grows with it.
That continuity matters because most patent questions arrive in sequence. Is this idea new enough to pursue? What would a filing face? What is the patent worth now, and who might buy or license it? Answering them with one team and one documented record means nothing is re-searched and nothing is lost between steps.
Every engagement also shares the same limits. Metadragons LLC is not a law firm. We don't give legal opinions, draft or file applications, or negotiate agreements. When a legal step is needed, we coordinate with your independent registered patent practitioner. Our scope and disclosures page sets out exactly what we do and don't do.

Where to start
Common situations, and the service that usually answers the first question.
| Your situation | Start with | Why it comes first |
|---|---|---|
| I have an idea and haven't filed anything | Prior-Art Snapshot | A fast, plain-English read on how crowded the field is, before you spend on drafting |
| My attorney is about to draft an application | Patentability Search | Your practitioner sees the closest references, mapped element by element, before writing claims |
| We are about to launch a product | Product Clearance Search | In-force patents by feature and country: the search your attorney's FTO opinion relies on |
| A patent has been asserted against us, or we are buying one | Validity & Invalidity Search | The earliest relevant references, mapped and dated, for your counsel |
| We are designing a product shape, a GUI, or an AR/VR interface | Design & Interface Patent Search | An image-led look at registered designs before the design is fixed |
| We are writing an SBIR proposal or an investor deck | Patent Landscape & Whitespace | Evidence of who is filing where, with whitespace framed as testable hypotheses |
| We need to know what a competitor is building | Competitive Patent Intelligence | A portfolio profile now, then analyst-written digests as new filings publish |
| Our product implements Wi-Fi, cellular, or a video codec | Standards & SEP Mapping | Declared patents mapped to the standard before a license request or pool decision |
| We need drawings for a filing | Utility Patent Drawings or Design Patent Drawings | USPTO-format sheets from your specification or sketches, with two revision rounds |
| I want to know what my patent is worth | Commercial Patent Valuation | A commercial range with every assumption shown, for business planning |
| I want to sell my patent | Sell Your Patent | Sale-readiness first, including a plain answer if the commercial evidence is weak |
| We are investing in, lending against, or acquiring patents | IP Due-Diligence Data Packs | Standardized facts on families, assignment records, status, and citations |
| Maintenance fees are coming due on a large portfolio | Portfolio Pruning Analytics | Keep, sell, license, or lapse candidates ranked before the fee window |
| We have inventions to license, or a technology gap to fill | Licensee Identification or Technology Scouting | Evidence-backed lists of likely licensees or available technologies, with documented introductions where relevant |
| We need to track status and fee windows across a portfolio | Portfolio Administration | Public status, fee windows, and inventories in one record, coordinated with your practitioners |
Not sure where you fit? Describe the decision you face on a free scoping call, and we'll recommend the smallest engagement that answers it.
§ 04Process
How every engagement runs
The same five steps, whichever service you choose. More detail on how we work.
- 01
Free scoping call
20–30 minutes on the question, the decision behind it, and your deadline. Keep confidential details for after the NDA.
- 02
Fixed-fee written quote
Within one business day of the call. Nothing is billed beyond the quote without your written approval. For brokerage, success-fee terms are written down before any marketing starts.
- 03
NDA, then the details
An NDA is available before any technical disclosure. Files are handled in US-based systems, encrypted in transit and at rest, and never used to train AI models.
- 04
AI-assisted, analyst-verified work
AI widens recall; people decide relevance. An analyst reads every reference, and a second analyst reviews every report.
- 05
Delivery with the audit trail
A PDF report, a spreadsheet with links, and a Hoard workspace where relevant. On request, files are deleted within 30 days of project close.
§ 05Questions
Common questions
Something else on your mind? Call (505) 357-5188 or write to info@metadragons.com.
Are you a law firm?
No. Metadragons LLC is not a law firm and is not registered to practice before the USPTO. We provide technical, analytical, commercial, and administrative services. When a legal step is needed, we coordinate with your independent registered patent practitioner. If you don't have one, we can share a list of independent practitioners to contact. We receive no referral fees.
Why don't you publish prices?
Because scope drives cost, and a posted price either overcharges small projects or surprises large ones. Instead, every engagement gets a fixed-fee written quote within one business day of a free scoping call. Rush timing is available on searches and drawings when scope allows, quoted separately.
Who do you work with?
Independent inventors, startups and grant applicants, universities and labs, investors and lenders, corporate IP and R&D teams, and patent practitioners, across the US from our base in Albuquerque. See solutions by audience.
What is Hoard?
Hoard is our analyst-operated patent intelligence workspace: Watch for monitoring with analyst digests, Atlas for landscapes, and Ledger for portfolio records and fee windows. Access is by invitation, included with relevant engagements or as a standalone subscription quoted per scope. See the platform.
Can you promise a patent, a sale, or licensing income?
No. Nobody can honestly promise those outcomes, and we don't. We commit to the work in the quote, done with a documented method, and to a plain answer when the evidence is weak.
